Arrival of Sankt Nikolaus

Year 4 have had a jolly old visitor arrive a little early this Christmas time. The children left their shoes outside their classrooms at the end of the school day and next morning when they came back in school they found to their surprise... presents! This follows the German Christmas tradition of Nikolaus-Stiefel (Nicholas boot) where many children in Germany put a shoe outside their front door on the night of 5 December, just like we hang stockings on Christmas Eve, hoping for a kindly visitor to fill them up!

Thank you to Mrs Bloor who read Christmas stories to the children in German.
